Tennis players have flocked to courts across the northern suburbs since COVID restrictions eased last week.
Hume Tennis and Community Centre’s complete tennis services director Tim Connelly said the Craigieburn centre had been inundated with bookings from people eager to hit the court once again.
“To say people are excited to get back on the court is an understatement, even with a bit of rain over the last few days players are still out there,” Mr Connelly said.
“Our online booking system – Book a Court- has been really busy and is perfect for people to be able to know they can pre-book a court and that they are going to play. It also helps with COVIDsafe protocols as players enter through an external gate and can head straight to the court they are playing on.”
Mr Connelly said the centre was glad the state government has allowed tennis to resume as a recreational activity.
“There has been a lot of advocacy with government for it to be viewed as an ideal COVIDsafe sport – players being at the opposite ends of the court. So we are so excited tennis is open and another physical option for everyone to enjoy,” he said.
