Teens charged after high-speed crash in Epping

Two teenagers have been charged after a stolen vehicle crashed in Epping early Wednesday morning, June 18, leaving six people seriously injured.

Police allege the Haval SUV was stolen during an aggravated burglary at a home on Starboard Drive in Doreen in the early hours of Tuesday.

It was first spotted travelling at speed near Church Street in Whittlesea about 1am Wednesday.

With assistance from the Air Wing, officers tracked the vehicle as it allegedly sped through Epping before rolling near the Hume Freeway entrance on O’Herns Road.

All six occupants were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police have since charged a 17-year-old Whittlesea boy and a 16-year-old from Hume with theft of a motor vehicle and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Both have been bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

A second 17-year-old from Whittlesea has been released pending further enquiries.

A 19-year-old Seymour woman, another 17-year-old from Whittlesea and a 16-year-old from Hume remain in hospital and are yet to be interviewed.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police urge anyone with information, CCTV or dash-cam footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
