Teenager charged after alleged Broadmeadows stabbing

A teenager has been charged after a boy was allegedly stabbed at a Broadmeadows supermarket last week.

Police were called to the Pascoe Vale Road store after reports of a brawl between 10-15 youths about 6.20pm on Thursday.

A 16-year-old Dallas boy was found with an alleged stab wound to the upper body and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Superintendent Peter Lardner said on Friday that the boy’s condition had improved, and was no longer life-threatening.

A 16-year-old Broadmeadows boy has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence and affray.

He is expected to face children’s court today.

Six teenagers were arrested at the scene, including a 13-year-old Dallas boy, a 14-year-old Dallas boy, a 15-year-old Dallas boy, a 13-year-old Coolaroo boy, a 14-year-old Broadmeadows boy, and a 16-year-old Broadmeadows boy.

All were issued with a caution notice in relation to the affray.

The investigation into the alleged stabbing remains ongoing, and detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed it to make contact with police.
