Twenty Hume students will be given $2500 scholarships under a new partnership between Kangan Institute and Hume council.
The funding will come from the Hume multiversity tertiary scholarship program, which aims to support Hume residents in their studies and help them find work in areas that are key to the municipality’s growing economy.
These areas include building and construction, advanced manufacturing, food and fibre, health and community care, and education.
Kangan Institute chief executive Sally Curtain said the scholarship program is designed to give financial support to new students to help them enter vocational training.
“We understand that for many people the cost of training is prohibitive,” Ms Curtain said.
“We are very pleased to be working with the Hume City Council to provide these scholarships and we hope that this will make the difference to students who might otherwise have been unable to consider studying with us at all.”
The scholarships are open to newly commencing students at the institute across all campuses, including Broadmeadows.
Applications close Friday, December 31.
To apply, students can contact the Kangan Institute Skills and Jobs Centre, or visit www.kangan.edu.au/courses/scholarship-and-grant-programs
