Swings, slides and say-so

Locals are being called on to share their input to shape the future of Wattlebird Street Reserve in Roxburgh Park.

Hume council has suggested a number of changes for the play space at the reserve, with plans for a play combination unit, carousel, a triple swing, seesaw rocker and nature play elements in place.

Hume’s community are being invited to share their feedback on the draft concept plan for the renewed play space as well as improvements to the existing amenities like an upgraded shelter, new seating, walking paths, fencing, a kickabout area with soccer goals and tree planting.

Under the draft concept plan, council have included designs that fall in line with the park’s current status as a local level park, which is outlined as being used by nearby residents for recreational activities including playing, walking, or relaxing, with larger events or sports kept out of the equation.

The draft plan includes designs for nature play in a bid to improve cognitive skills, creativity, balance and coordination for young children using the play area, as well as combination play units and swings to build on social play.

Community consultation will run through to Saturday 30 November, with residents encouraged to visit the Participate Hume website and have their say on the proposed designs.
