URBNSURF hosted the inaugural SurfAid Cup, where nine teams of six surfers had the opportunity to take on ocean-like waves and compete for the title of Surfing Champions.
Australia’s first surf park, URBNSURF located in Tullamarine has partnered with surfing not-for-profit organisation SurfAid to assist them with their mission of helping remote surf communities.
Team Mambo won on the day, with Ripcurl placing second and URBNSURF Boardriders coming in third and managing to raise over $10,000 to themselves.
An impressive $54,000 in total was raised for the initiative.
“URBNSURF is incredibly proud to partner with SurfAid, an organisation that has such an effective and measurable positive impact to communities connected to us through surfing,” URBNSURF CEO Damon Tudor said.
“It ties directly to URBNSURF’s vision and we are excited to continue to develop and grow this partnership as URBNSURF expands to Sydney in 2023 and beyond.” he said.
Last year’s event raised more than $70,000 for SurfAid’s programs, helping support families in isolated areas that connect to Australia through surfing.
This allowed them to help over 50,000 people in Indonesia, Solomon Islands and Mexico access healthcare, clean water and food security.
SurfAid CEO Doug Lees said: “The team from URBNSURF have always been committed to supporting the places we all love to surf. The new partnership deepens URBNSURF’s connection to giving back through SurfAid.”
