A group of friends out for a Sunday drive have been fined for breaching stay at home orders.
The four friends were fined $1652 each after coming to the attention of Greensborough Highway Patrol officers about 4.30pm on Easter Sunday.
Police said a SUV, driven by a 21-year-old from Roxburgh park, was stopped on the Metropolitan Road at Thomastown, after allegedly being detected travelling at 169km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Police said the driver told police that he and his three passengers were catching up to “chill”.
Police alleged the P-plate driver recorded .047 on an evidentiary breath test.
He will be charged on summons with multiple traffic offences including dangerous driving, speeding, failing to display P-plates and exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit.
His car was impounded under hoon legislation.
