Members of the Sunbury Art Society are gearing up to showcase their work in the group’s first exhibition outside of the town.

The art society will take over the Gee Lee-Wik Doleen Gallery at Craigieburn for nine weeks from Thursday, August 9 for its Our World exhibition.

Sunbury Art Society president Ken Winnell said some of the group’s members had previously exhibited their work as part of the Macedon Ranges Art Trail, but this exhibition would be the group’s first outside of Sunbury.

He said the group, which has close to 60 members, was looking forward to showcasing its work to a wider audience.

Winnell joined the art society in 2011 after retiring from teaching.

“Painting was a hobby I always sort of had an interest in and never had the time to pursue,” he said. “I paint abstracts, landscapes, flora, fauna, buildings … anything really that pops into my head.”

Gee Lee-Wik Doleen Gallery is at 75-95 Central Park Avenue, Craigieburn.
