Mark Stewart begins his working day with high-fives and handshakes.
The school crossing supervisor has spent the past eight years greeting St Monica’s College students, staff and parents and ensuring their safe passage across Davisson Street.
He’s done such an outstanding job, he’s been voted Whittlesea council’s best school crossing supervisor.
Mr Stewart was chuffed when told, putting his award down to his love of the job.
“I’m a really happy guy, I love life. If I can make someone else’s day better I feel good,” the father of two and grandfather of six said.
The retired bus and semi-truck driver inquired about the job after seeing an advertisement in his local paper. He said he spends his shifts chatting to and greeting parents, teachers and students and, when not there, the
Thomastown resident volunteers at Epping RSL.
