A South Morang man’s high-speed antics on Plenty Road have landed him in hot water after police allege he tore through traffic at over 200km/h and pulled a mono right in front of them.
Greensborough Highway Patrol officers were patrolling Plenty Road in Mill Park on Sunday, June 1, when they spotted a red 2020 BMW S1000 motorcycle flying through the intersection at Childs Road.
The bike was allegedly travelling at more than 200km/h – more than double the speed limit– before officers later clocked it at 161km/h.
To their disbelief, the rider then performed a U-turn, accelerated again and allegedly popped a mono (wheelstand) directly in front of police.
Police intercepted the bike and arrested the rider, a 23-year-old South Morang man.
He is expected to be charged on summons with a string of serious offences, including conduct endangering life.
The motorcycle has been seized under common law and will remain impounded until the case is resolved in court.
