A South Morang man is facing 20 charges following a series of alleged incidents involving a flatbed truck in the northern suburbs on Wednesday night.
The man, 47, was arrested outside Epping police station about 8.30pm on Wednesday.
Police charged him with 20 offences on Thursday, including theft of a motor vehicle, conduct endangering life, dangerous driving, carjacking, driving while disqualified and resisting arrest.
It is alleged that the truck was stolen from Quarter Street, Roxburgh Park, just before 1pm on Wednesday before being involved in a number of collisions in Preston and Lalor.
Police also allege that the driver of the truck was involved in an unsuccessful carjacking at a Lalor service station.
The man has been remanded to appear at Heidelberg Magistrates Court on September 5.
