This was one of Star Weekly’s top stories of 2021. Here’s your chance to read it if you missed it, or revisit it before another year of jam-packed news content.

Campbellfield’s very own indoor skate park is officially open.

Volo Park is one of four indoor skate parks in Victoria, and was opened to the public on Saturday.

Matty Ceravolo is a world pro rider from Whittlesea, and the proud owner of the facility.

Mr Ceravolo said it was strange to be at the end of the construction of the park.

“We’re finally at the end… it’s a little bit surreal,” he said.

“It hasn’t fully hit me yet.

“The facility is a place where everyone is welcome.

“We aim to make the experience as comfortable as possible.”

Mr Ceravolo said he built the skate park to share his passion for action sports.

“I got into action sports when I was very young,” he said.

“I met a few fantastic friends through the local skate park.

“I’ve been a professional rider for 12 years.

“I’m so passionate, and I wanted to share the passion.”

The park aims to cater for “all action sports, riders of any age and riding abilities”, and is also equipped with a full kitchen, allowing for “good food and coffee” for parents watching their kids.
