The northern suburbs will finally see a new ambulance station built in Craigieburn with the state government confirming a site this week.

The state government committed to building a new ambulance station in the northern suburbs in 2016.

This week, Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas, who is also responsible for ambulances, announced the station would be located at 13 Sustainable Drive, Craigieburn.

Expected to be completed by mid 2023, the new station will feature a four-bay ambulance garage, four rest and recline areas dedicated to paramedics, a fully equipped kitchen, improved security and parking.

The station will operate 24 hours a day.

A spokesperson for the state government said the location was selected to ensure the best emergency coverage for Craigieburn and surrounding suburbs.

“This prime location on Sustainable Drive will allow ease of access to main roads and major sites, including schools, shopping precincts and community facilities,” the spokesperson said.

Ms Thomas said “This modern and advanced ambulance station will ensure families living in the booming outer northern suburbs receive the best lifesaving emergency care, now and into the future”.
