Sincerely Yours brings music, memories and connection for seniors

Hume’s seniors will be treated to a special afternoon of music, history and community when Little Pine Tree Productions brings Sincerely Yours to Tullamarine community hall next month.

The production will combine world-class entertainment with opportunities to connect with community groups and local services and is designed to give older residents a chance to enjoy a professional musical performance before sharing in a social afternoon tea.

Council and community groups will host stalls, offering information and support while encouraging residents to strengthen their community ties.

At the heart of the event is Victoria Mantenyn, who has designed the programs and performances to tackle loneliness in older Aussies.

“We’re trying to tackle isolation. The idea is to help older Australians access a world class performance and musical entertainment while also having the opportunity to socialise and connect with local community groups,” she said.

Ms Mantynen will take to the stage as forces sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn at the Tullamarine show.

Ms Mantynen said the show on Tuesday, September 30 at 2pm, aims to cater to those who may have a hard time making it to a typical event or performance.

“We try to make them as inclusive as possible. We’re really trying to cater to lots of people’s different situations,” she said.

After the show, audience members are encouraged to connect with local community groups and service providers.

“There’s information at the events about service providers, aged care, and community groups so they can continue feeling engaged and safe within the community,” Ms Mantyen said.

Little Tree Production will also bring a rock ‘n’ roll dance night to Sunbury Memorial Hall on Tuesday, November 11, from 6.30pm.
