Police have charged a man after seizing a shotgun from a vehicle in Dallas on Tuesday 11 November.
Officers were called to reports a man slumped over in the driver’s seat of a stationary vehicle in a carpark off Dobell Place about 8pm.
Initial reports suggested the man may have experienced an overdose, before police arrived on scene and woke the driver up.
Officers then searched the vehicle and uncovered an unloaded sawed-off double barrel shotgun, an empty box of 12-gauge shotgun shells, drugs of dependence, drug paraphernalia including scales, and a baton.
The 37-year-old Meadow Heights man was charged with offences including possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence and dealing with property believed to be proceeds of crime.
The 37-year-old was bailed to appear before Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 5 March.
