Westmeadows locals are being invited to take part in shaping the future of Hillcrest Drive Park as Hume’s council seek feedback on a draft concept plan for the neighbourhood green space.
The proposed design includes a brand new playspace featuring an activity box and slide, a double swing, a multi-person springer and rope carousel, along with new seating, a shelter and additional tree planting to enhance shade and amenity.
As a local level park identified in the Hume Open Space Strategy, the Westmeadows reserve is designed primarily for nearby residents to hone in on daily activities like walking, relaxation and play, as opposed to larger gatherings or sports.
Public toilets and water play areas have been left out of the proposal, with Hume’s council opting to save the development of the amenities for larger, more open spaces to attract visitors from across the municipality.
Families seeking water play fun have instead been advised to visit ANZAC Park or Vantage Boulevard Playground in Craigieburn.
Hume’s council plans to implement community input into the final design, aiming to ensure the park meets the local needs of the community while maintaining safety, accessibility, and sustainability.
Feedback on the Hillcrest Park draft concept plan is open to the public through to Sunday 7 December, with all locals and community members being encouraged to share their thoughts.
