Severe thunderstorm warning for Craigieburn

Severe thunderstorms are expected to hit Craigieburn by 4.20pm on Friday.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, stating that, at 3.20pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Gisborne, Melton and Belgrave.

These thunderstorms are moving towards the south east, the bureau said.

The storms are forecast to affect Pakenham, Sunbury and Williamstown by 3.50 pm and Craigieburn, Footscray and St Albans by 4.20 pm.

Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.

A ‘Watch and Act’ alert has been issued.
