Sessions on new plans begin

Online and in person consultation sessions about the Melbourne Airport draft Master Plan and draft Major Development Plan start next week.

The plans which were released last week, detail the airport’s plans for the next five years, 20 years and long term, with the key plank the construction of a third runway.

The runway will run north-south, with many people set to be impacted by the development and changes to flight path.

The airport is running a number of sessions to help residents better understand the two plans and the impact.

Online sessions start on February 10 and will run every Thursday until May 5 between 7pm and 9pm.

Each session will cover a different topic, including a third runway overview, sustainability, social impacts, aircraft noise, transport and heritage.

In person sessions will be held in a number of locations, across affected municipalities including Hume.

There will be a talk at the Broadmeadows Town Hall for an overview of he master plan o February 12.

A talk will be held at Gladstone Park that is yet to be decided on March 1 on the social impacts.

There will also be talk at the Hume Global Learning Centre in Sunbury.

Every fortnight, the airport has arranged meet the planner days, where people can either book in person or online sessions with one of the airport planners.

One of those days, February 22, will be held at the John Mackenzie Community Centre in Bulla.

Other sessions which don’t require booking include park pop-ups, including one at Airport Viewing location on February 19, in terminal pop-ups and car park walk-throughs at the airport.
