Second teen dies after Plenty Road crash

A second teen has died following a single vehicle accident in South Morang on Sunday morning.

Police were called to Plenty Road about 1.10am, following reports a car had crashed into a pole.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives believe the silver sedan was travelling north on Plenty Road when the driver lost control.

An 18-year-old South Morang man, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene.

The driver, an 18-year-old Eltham man, was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where he later died.

A second passenger, an 18-year-old Mernda man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing.
