Another two schools in Hume and Whittlesea have closed for cleaning after students tested positive for coronavirus.

Hume Central Secondary College in Broadmeadows and Aitken Creek Primary School in Craigieburn announced today that they would be closed for three days to allow cleaning to take place.

In a note to parents, Aitken Creek Primary School urged staff and students to stay home until contact tracing is complete.

“As a result of the investigation, [the Department of Health and Human Services] may request that some staff and students get tested. However, at this stage staff and students do not need to seek testing unless they develop symptoms.”

Maples Early Learning Centre in Mernda is also closed for cleaning after a staff member tested positive for the virus.

The centre will reopen on Thursday.

Craigierburn’s Aitken Hill Primary School was closed for three days on Monday for cleaning after a staff member tested positive for the virus.

It comes as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose to 155 in Hume. There are 64 active cases in the municipality, an increase of 10 since yesterday.

There are 62 confirmed cases in Whittlesea, of which 19 are active.
