Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR) in Craigieburn is celebrating its status as a finalist in the Pet Insurance Australia Companion Animal Rescue Awards.
SCAR is a finalist in the Community Education and/or Outreach Program category for the second year in a row.
SCAR founder and chief executive Marisa Debattista said the organisation was “over the moon” to be announced as a finalist.
“Our entire team works so hard to ensure that our outreach programs are able to run and that people and animals in need have the assistance they need,” Ms Debattista said.
“These awards are a fantastic way to highlight the great work that is happening in many areas of animal welfare and management, to bring awareness to resources that are available to community members and their pets and to celebrate innovation in our sector.”
Ms Debattista said if they secure the win, SCAR would receive a $1000 cash prize plus prizes from the rescue award supporter companies.
“Win or lose, we feel honoured to have been acknowledged for the work that we do in the community and we will continue doing everything we can to ensure that pet owners have the resources and support they need to keep their pets happy, healthy and with the families that love them.”
Award winners will be announced Wednesday, November 10.
