Saving power and busting bills

Victorians across Whittlesea and Hume will soon be able to access additional financial in the form of a new round of the Power Saving Bonus.

The $250 Power Saving Bonus will be re-opened to all eligible Victorian households from 24 March, including those which received payments under previous rounds, Victorian Energy Compare website.

The upcoming round will follow on from the round launched on 1 July 2022, which included more than 1.7 million households receiving the support.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the program aims to supplement people’s income while giving them a better understanding of the best energy deal on the market for their household energy usage.

“We know Victorians are doing it tough with the rising cost of energy – that’s why we’ll have a new round of the $250 Power Saving Bonus, putting money in families’ pockets and making sure they’re on the best deal,” he said.

“We’re driving down bills and putting power back in Victorians’ hands by bringing back the SEC and delivering cheap, clean, sustainnable energy.”

The program is part of Victoria’s efforts to cut its emissions by tripling the amount of renewable energy, creating thousands of clean energy jobs and setting a renewable energy target of 95 per cent by 2035.

Energy and Resources Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said the program helps Victorian families find better deals.

“Big power companies rely on people not having the time, information or knowledge to save money,” she said.

Laverton MP Sarah Connolly said it is simple to access a better deal and receive the bonus.

“The $250 Power Saving Bonus is so easy to access, so if you haven’t checked it out already, visit the Energy Compare website today,” she said.
