The Salvation Army is calling on the Hume and Whittlesea community to dig deep and give back this Christmas as it launches its annual Christmas appeal.
The appeal is aimed at helping those in need of support during the festive season which is reported to intensify financial and emotional pressures for those already experiencing disadvantage.
The Salvos are aiming to raise $29 million through the appeal in a bid to ensure those facing the pressures of Christmas get the help they need this festive season.
Whittlesea Salvos store manager Kelly Clark said the drive is not only important to help out those in need, but also for those involved with the Salvation Army.
“On a personal level it’s really important. We do what we do because we want to help,” she said.
“From those who do paid work to those who volunteer, we all want to make a difference, and things like the Christmas appeal really do make a difference.”
Community members are being called on to help out in a variety of ways, including volunteering, donating products such as gifts and food, or offering a financial donation.
Donations can also be made at any Salvos Store, including those in Whittlesea, Roxburgh Park, Craigieburn, and Mill Park.
