Drivers are being urged to take extra care as more Hume children take advantage of the warmer weather and walk to school. Although the school holidays have begun, Hume council is reminding motorists about the important role they play in keeping the community safe.

The message comes in time for Community Safety Month in October which aims to promote child, road, cyber and fire safety.

Events are scheduled around the municipality. A full program for Community Safety Month is available online: bit.ly/2OAU0ff
