Roxburgh Park man charged for evading police

A 22-year-old Roxburgh Park man has been charged for evading police last night.

Police initially responded to a call from a concerned community member reporting the driver of a black Audi allegedly driving erratically along Newland Street, Altona Meadows, just before 7.30pm on December 13.

Police went to intercept the driver who took-off at speed west along Newland Street.

The vehicle was followed by the Air Wing and detected travelling at speeds allegedly in excess of 200 km/h, before Critical Incident Response Team officers arrested the man in his vehicle on the Hume Highway in Tallarook about 10pm.

Police have charged the driver with multiple offences including conduct endangering life, exposure of emergency worker to risk by driving, speed/manner dangerous, dangerous driving while being pursued and other traffic and criminal offences, including theft.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear Werribee Magistrates court later today.
