Craigieburn’s Joe Sullivan reserve has moved following a council meeting on July 11.
Mr Sullivan was born in 1928 and raised 6 sons in Craigieburn. He served in the police force, was an active member of the Lions Club in Craigieburn and assisted with a local youth club. Mr Sullivan was involved with the Air League (Air Force) and the Holy child Football Club in Dallas. He was also the local postman in the area.
The reserve was located on Craigieburn Road between Hamilton and Walters street, however the park was unfortunately absorbed by roadworks.
After community consultation the reserve has been moved to 39 Flagstaff Loop in Craigieburn.
Councilor Jodi Jackson said the memorial is an important marker for the community.
“I think that it’s entirely fitting that we’ll make a new memorial .. it can be appreciated by everyone who is coming into town,” she said.
“This is an excellent outcome.”
However Cr Jackson said that she would like to add a new memorial to the reserve in the future.
“Because I think Mr Sullivan deserves it,” she said.
