Reserve gets a refresh

Westmeadows locals are being invited to give their input on the draft concept plan for the play space in Ian Musgrove Reserve in Westmeadows.

The draft concept plan includes designs for a renewed play space as well as improvements to amenities in the area.

The reserve is classified as a “local level park” under the Hume Open Space Strategy, meaning it primarily serves nearby residents for daily recreation in walking, relaxation, and playing, rather than hosting large events or sports.

While the plan focuses on creating an accessible space for fun for local families and residents, the inclusion of public toilets and water play facilities have been left out of the proposal, with council noting such features are typically reserved for larger regional parks which intend on attracting visitors for longer periods of time.

Residents have also been assured the park’s play space will be subject to regular independent audits, with equipment planned to be replaced every 15 to 20 years in a bid to stay in line with Australian standards.

Dogs are also welcome at the park, with residents urged to keep them on leads at all times.

Hume’s council will use the community feedback to help shape the final design before works begin on the park’s refresh.
