Thousands of people gathered at Craigieburn War Memorial for the Anzac day service to pay their respects for the lives lost during war.

The dawn service attracted almost 2000 locals and another 1500 at 10am.

This was the first ceremony post COVID and the huge turnout was “impressive to see,” said Craigieburn War Memorial President Kevin O’Callaghan.

A number of local dignitaries, including the oldest living war veteran, Robert Stokes attended the ceremony to honour and commemorate fallen soldiers.

Local politicians, schools, scouts and for the first time ever, a kindergarten were invited to lay wreaths at the Cenotaph.
