Locals are set to benefit with the launch of a brand new digital portal – ‘Reggie’ – which is helping Northern Health staff provide better care to patients across the board.

The introduction of Reggie, a registration portal for the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED), is ensuring a user-friendly experience for patients and key stakeholders alike.

According to Northern Health, ‘Reggie’ was created to match the workflows of VVED, and in turn, has saved staff time and allowed for a faster registration process.

More than just an efficient system, the portal was developed and built internally by the Digital Health Team – putting the hospital at the forefront of digital health.

“It’s an amazing innovation for Northern Health,” Digital Health executive director Anthony Gust said.

The new portal has also enhanced data capture and validation, resulting in a streamlined registration process for both the patient and the clerical team.

It is understood that in the first 15 days of its launch, the portal helped reduce duplicate patient records by 10 per cent, while increasing Medicare number capture compliance by 15 per cent.

Additionally, the new portal has also been well received by Ambulance Victoria Triage Practitioners.

“They are loving how efficient the referral form is,” they said.

HealthDirect also applauded ‘Reggie’: “In our catch up with providers, we also got very positive feedback from nurses appreciating the simple view and steps of the new form.”
