For residents in Hume the next rates installment is approaching.
Council has said if residents are experiencing financial hardship, “council can assist with a payment plan that works for you”.
Our financial hardship support program has helped hundreds of families in the past year alone, and we will continue to offer support to residents who are in need,” a spokesperson said.
“You can apply for a weekly, fortnightly or monthly payment plan and make changes to an existing payment plan if you need to.
“You can also pay your rates by arranging a regular deduction from your Centrelink payment through Centrepay and you may also be eligible for a Municipal Rates Concession if you hold a concession card.”
The spokesperson said ratepayers who can continue to make payments should continue to do so.
“The next rates installment is due on Tuesday 28 February.”
“The legislated penalty interest rate of 10 per cent per annum will apply to any outstanding balances as of 1 July 2023.”
