Probationary driver caught at twice the speed limit in Campbellfield

A P-plate driver had his car impounded after being clocked travelling at 163km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Hume Highway.

Fawkner Highway Patrol officers spotted the Hyundai Elantra about 3.30pm on Sunday, January 23.

The driver, a 21-year-old Thomastown man, is expected to be charged on summons with speed dangerous and other traffic offences.

His car has been impounded for 30 days with towing costs of $896.
