More than 40,600 Whittlesea households and 29,200 Hume households have applied for the state government’s $250 Power Saving Bonus.
The bonus, which provides Victorians with $250 for seeking out a better energy deal on Victoria’s Energy Compare website, is proving to be most popular in Craigieburn.
The suburb has recorded the state’s third-highest application rate, with 10,174 households accessing the bonus.
Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said that since July 1, one million Victorians have applied for the one-off payment.
All Victorian households are eligible for the $250 payment, including the nearly 400,000 concession card holders
who previously claimed the payment under an earlier phase of the program.
User data shows that over the past 12 months, seven out of every 10 users saved an average of $330 by switching
energy offers, the state government said.
“Three weeks after launching this bill busting bonus, we are proud to have supported one million Victorian
households with their energy bills while helping them find the cheapest deal available,” Ms Ambrosio said.
“We know Victorian families are doing it tough, so we’re topping up the $250 Power Saving Bonus program to
make sure no one misses out.”
