Police seize weapons, dried tobacco and cash from driver

A Bundoora man has been charged after police allegedly located drugs, prohibited weapons and cash during an intercept in Point Cook.

Reports of suspicious vehicles led police officers to intercept three vehicles on Newminster Way at about 8.40pm on March 13 .

A search of the vehicles allegedly located a taser, two firearms, knuckle dusters, approximately 25 kilograms of dried tobacco and more than $35,000 in cash.

A 25-year-old Bundoora man has been charged with possessing tobacco products reckless to defrauding the revenue, dealing property that is suspected proceeds of crime and possessing controlled weapon without excuse.

He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 15.

Police also charged a 44-year-old Box Hill North man with handling stolen goods, two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, two counts of deal property suspected proceeds of crime and failure to store ammunition correctly.

He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 25.
