A man will face court on Thursday after he was allegedly caught pilfering through cars in Meadow Heights.
Police have been told that the 18-year-old from Meadow Heights was noticed walking away from a car parked in the driveway of a Milford Court house with one of its doors wide open about 1.50am on Thursday.
Police said that the man was spotted by the owner of the car.
The victim called out to his friend and the pair held the offender for a short time until police arrived.
The man was taken into custody by the Operations Response Unit who recovered a number of allegedly stolen items.
Police are still working to determine the owners of a phone and a few pairs of sunglasses.
Broadmeadows police charged the man with numerous counts of theft from motor cars, going equipped to steal, handling stolen goods and other offences.
He will face Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Anyone with information or who may missing their phone of sunglasses is asked to contact their local police station.
