Police investigating Wollert crash

Police are continuing to investigate a single vehicle crash in Wollert on Saturday which resulted in a three-year-old being taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have been told a white Ford Falcon sedan was observed at the intersection of Edgars Road and Craigieburn Road, next to a dark coloured Mazda hatchback, travelling west.

Police said it is believed that when the lights turned green, both vehicles took off at speed.

Police believe the driver of the Ford lost control of the vehicle while attempting to overtake the Mazda, causing the vehicle to leave the road and roll multiple times before coming to rest in a paddock.

A three-year-old girl was allgedly ejected from the vehicle, and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other two female passengers, aged 10 and five, were also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The driver, a 32-year-old Mickleham man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver of the Mazda left the scene and is yet to be located.
