Police investigating suspicious Thomastown car fire

Police are investigating a suspicious car fire in Thomastown earlier this week.

Investigators have been told two people walked up the driveway of a Philip Court property about 12.25am on Monday, September 6.

It is believed they smashed the rear window of a black Mazda sedan that was parked in the driveway of the property before setting the inside of the car alight.

The fire was extinguished but significant damage was caused to the interior of the vehicle, police said.

Police have released CCTV footage of the incident and are hoping someone will recognise the man in the footage.

The man was wearing a grey hoodie, Adidas track pants and Nike shoes and was carrying a can and what appeared to be a hammer at the time.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
