Police investigate Lalor fire

Police are investigating after a fire broke out at a shop on May Street in Lalor in the early hours of Wednesday 5 November.

Fire Rescue Victoria responded to reports of a shop fire at 6.03am this morning, finding the fire at the rear of the shop.

The fire was reported to have spread through half of the premises before FRV crews brought the blaze under control at 7.12am.

Despite containing the fire to the premises, buildings on either side were reported to have been affected by smoke.

Whittlesea council building surveyors and health department representatives will attend and inspect the premises today.

The fire marks the second to be deemed suspicious in the last two days in the north-west area after FRV responded to a shop fire in Craigieburn on Tuesday 4 November.
