Police are out in force in Whittlesea today in an effort to reduce high-volume crimes.
Officers from Whittlesea, the Operations Response Unit, Transit Safety Division and State Highway patrol are flooding the city as part of Operation Influx.
They are also targeting the Banyule area.
Superintendent Tim Hansen said police were focused on disrupting the theft of and from motor vehicles in the area, as well as targeting offenders and persons of interest.
He said everyone has a role to play when it comes to preventing crime.
“We are doing a lot of work to ensure we get as many police out into the community as we can- this means you will see an increased police presence across the entire division,” Superintendent Hansen said.
“We also need to work together with the community and we encourage you to take general crime prevention precautions, like securing your property and vehicles to reduce the likelihood of valuables being stolen, and report any suspicious behaviour.”
