Yellow Gum Park in Plenty Gorge is set to kick off this year’s trail running series on June 4.

The series, which is entering its 13th year, has been rejuvenated for its latest instalment including a condensed three race format.

Participants can choose from three course options, including the long course spanning 24km, the medium course covering 13km, or the 7km short course.

Runners will be put through their paces with the long and medium courses travelling through ankle deep water in the Plenty River, whilst passing scenic landscapes of gum trees, trickling creeks, fern-lined valleys and native wildlife.

Rapid Ascent general manager Sam Maffett said the event caters for everyone.

“We’ve created a series that runners can resonate with, getting people off-road and into natural settings with all abilities catered for,” he said.

“By providing a welcoming environment, food, coffee and family activities and showcasing little-known trails, we’ve pulled together all the good bits that make trail running so good!”

Mary, a runner from last year’s event said the run was a thrill.

“Last year was my first year trail running and first time at the series and I loved it. I couldn’t wait to run again this year and experience more trails, more cheers, more spills and more thrills,” she said.

The Plenty Gorge run is one of three meets throughout Victoria for the year.
