Plea for witnesses after elderly pedestrian struck in Craigieburn

A 76-year-old Craigieburn man is fighting for life after being struck by a car on Craigieburn Road.

The collision occurred just before 7pm on Wednesday, June 4, with emergency services rushing to the scene as the man suffered life- threatening injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Police interviewed the alleged driver, a 49-year-old Mernda man, who was released pending further inquiries.

The exact circumstances leading to the collision remain under active investigation.

Police are calling on anyone who may have seen the incident, or who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward and help piece together what happened.
