The Darebin Creek Parklands park and playground has reopened to the community following a highly anticipated upgrade.

The Dalton Road, Epping, park now features new play equipment, a fitness station, and a picnic shelter with tables and seats.

A drinking fountain and updated landscaping were also included in the upgrade.

Chair administrator Lydia Wilson said the upgrade showed that council was focused on creating interactive places and spaces that help residents to get active and socialise outdoors.

“Parks and playgrounds are such an important part of our City’s personality and critical for the overall health and wellbeing of our residents and this has become even clearer through the pandemic,” Ms Wilson said.

“The redevelopment of Darebin Creek Parklands was co-designed with local residents to ensure that the park can be enjoyed now and into the future.

“Council’s program to renew existing local parks provides opportunities for residents to connect with friends and family close to home, and showcases our City’s beautiful natural landscapes.”

The upgrade is part of Whittlesea council’s program to revitalise existing local parks and playgrounds.
