An Epping primary school is in line to receive an onsite kindergarten, allowing parents to ditch the ‘double drop off’.
Meadowglen Primary School is among four primary schools in Victoria that will have a new kindergarten built on its premises, with the capacity to offer 66 places.
Early Childhood Minister Ingrid Stitt announced this week that it was one of four schools to have new kindergarten establishments be built across Victoria in 2023.
Ms Stitt said it was important to begin a child’s education in early childhood.
“Making Victoria the Education State starts in the early years – that’s why we’re delivering unprecedented investment in the first years of our children’s education,” Ms Stitt said.
“We’re already giving Victorian kids an extra year of kinder – and now we’re taking action to make sure kinders are more convenient and accessible for busy families.”
The state government will fund all the new kindergartens, which will include administrative facilities and outdoor play areas.
As part of the Three-Year-Old Kinder rollout, every new Victorian primary school opening from 2021 onwards will have a kindergarten onsite or next door, aimed at making access easier, drop off simpler and more convenient, and making the transition smoother from kindergarten to school.
