One year for Epping clinic

Epping’s Medicare Urgent Care Clinic celebrated one year of operation on Friday, September 5.

The clinic provides residents in the north access to bulk-billed urgent medical care and has handled more than 14,000 presentations since it opened. Children represent 34 per cent of those presentations.

The clinic also provides dental and women’s health services, as well as its urgent care services for immediate non-life threatening issues, working to ease the pressure on nearby hospitals and GP clinics with after-hours health services operating every day of the week.

Scullin MP Andrew Giles attended a celebration event to mark the one year anniversary.

“The Epping Medicare Urgent Care Clinic has made a massive difference for locals right across the community,” he said.

“…it’s also helping to take pressure off the Northern Hospital emergency department.”

The Epping clinic is one of ForHealth’s eight urgent care clinics in Victoria and makes up one of 90 Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across Australia, with a further 50 planned to open in the coming years.

ForHealth director Andrew Crow said the clinic plans to hire more staff as demand grows.

“We’re increasing our volume to respond to some of the demand,” Mr Crow said.

The Medicare Urgent Care Clinic at Epping Plaza Medical and Dental Centre is open 7 days a week, 8am to 10pm.
