Northern Health offering free flu shots with a twist

Northern Health is again offering free flu vaccinations to the community, but this year’s immunisation program has a drive-in twist.

Northern Health will run its flu vaccination program from the car park of its NCHER building instead of the main Northern Hospital building.

Anyone wanting a flu vaccination will be asked to arrive at the building’s car park, which can be accessed from Cooper Street, five minutes before their appointment.

People will then be asked to leave their cars and will be directed to a designated waiting area.

Flu shots will be administered inside or outside the NCHER building depending on the weather.

Northern Health is asking people to remain in the waiting area for 15 minutes after receiving their vaccination.

Northern Health said there was sufficient parking at the site and there would be no charge for the 15-minute parking after the flu shot.
