Northern Health is celebrating a COVID-19 vaccination milestone, having administered 50,000 jabs since the roll-out began.

Dominic Ennis was the patient who received the 50,000th vaccination and said it was a big relief to be protected against COVID-19.

“It’s very important and I am very grateful that we’ve got a good health system so that we can get vaccinated,” he said.

“Follow the public health advice and do the right thing by everyone in our community, it’s pretty simple.

“There is a big sense of relief.”

Northern Health chief executive Siva Sivarajah visited the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre (PRACC) in South Morang this week to thank staff and mark the occasion.

“Thank you to our staff, volunteers and everyone involved for achieving this amazing milestone,” he said.

“Receiving a COVID-19 vaccination is an important step in keeping our community safe and I strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to receive a vaccine, to come forward.

“By getting the COVID-19 vaccination, you are playing an important role in not only protecting your own health, but those around you as well.”
