Nominate someone for the Victorian Disability Awards

In Hume and Whittlesea and across the state, Victorians have been asked to nominate people who make the world a more accessible and inclusive place for this year’s Victorian Disability Awards.

This year’s awards will focus on work people have done calling out ableism, platforming people and groups with disability and advocating for disability rights to governments and society, wrapped up in an award titled ‘Excellence in Disability Pride’.

Disability Minister Anthony Carbines encouraged Victorians to nominate people who have made outstanding contributions in the space.

“All Victorians deserve to be able to participate fully in society and these awards will recognise the achievements of the people working hard to break down the barriers for people with disability,” Mr Carbines said.

The awards celebrate those who work in different ways to champion and support people with disability, with nine categories open for nominations, including excellence in promoting disability pride, excellence in creating inclusive communities, an emerging leader award and more.

Nominations close on May 3 and the awards ceremony will be held on August 24.
