Victorians are being encouraged to recognise and celebrate community contributes made by seniors, including those in Hume and Whittlesea, by nominating them for Victorian Senior of the Year.
The award has run for more than 20 years to highlight the role of seniors in society as mentors, educators, role models and leaders.
Victorians can nominate residents over the age of 60 and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Victorians over the age of 50.
There are several different categories, with recognition in the areas of multiculturalism, healthy living, veterans, ageing well and outstanding achievement.
Nominations for the awards will close on July 29.
Victoring ageing minister Anthony Carbines said senior Victorians made important contributions to the life across so many different areas and the awards would ecognise that invaluable work.
“If you know an inspiring senior who has made a difference in the community, I encourage you to nominate them for an award.”
