No new COVID-19 cases in Hume

There have been no new COVID-19 cases recorded in Hume in the past 24 hours, while one new case has been reported in Whittlesea.

Latest data from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) reveals that there are now 22 coronavirus cases in Whittlesea. Hume has recorded 33 cases.

Stonnington continues to have the state’s highest rate of infection, with 87 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the municipality.

It is followed by Banyule (75) and Boroondara (57).

Across Victoria, there are 1228 cases of COVID-19 – an increase of 16 from yesterday.

The number of people who have died in Victoria from coronavirus remains at 12.

There are 110 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Victoria that may have been acquired through community transmission.

More than 62,000 tests have been conducted to date.

Currently 50 people are in hospital, including 13 patients in intensive care.

Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, Professor Brett Sutton urged Victorians to stay vigilant, particularly during the Easter holidays.

“The rules are clear – and they don’t change over Easter: if you can stay at home, you must stay at home,” Professor Sutton said.

“This is tough for many families, but no Easter holiday is worth a life. Stay at home, protect the health system, and save lives.

“This is not a normal Easter. Travelling, visiting friends, heading to the beach or staying in regional Victoria could see all our hard-won gains evaporate.

“There is no doubt about it – physical distancing will save lives. I urge people not to look for loopholes but to follow the advice and do the right thing.”

DHHS has a hotline for public information on COVID-19, which is 1800 675 398. Large numbers of calls can result in some delays.
