Residents in Epping and Broadmeadows will soon see fresh faces on the frontline of emergency care, with the next generation of Ambulance Victoria recruits preparing to hit the road in September.
Thirty graduates are set to begin their careers across the state, with placements at Epping and Broadmeadows branches.
The recruits form part of the Ambulance Victoria’s Graduate Ambulance Paramedic (GAP) program and will spend the next 12 months completing their final year of on-road training, responding to real emergency situations alongside experienced paramedics, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice.
Ambulance Services Minister Mary-Anne Thomas joined the new intake at the Ambulance Victoria super response centre in Westmeadows at their driver training day, where graduates were put through an intensive driving program.
The program works to ensure the new recruits can safely and confidently operate an ambulance vehicle under emergency conditions, as well as with a patient on board.
“These graduates are the future of our paramedic workforce – and they’ll make a real difference in supporting communities right across Victoria,” Ms Thomas said.
The graduates will soon be stationed across metropolitan branches in Epping, Broadmeadows, Sunshine, Moonee Ponds, Ringwood and Dandenong, while 14 others will head to regional branches in Hume, Gippsland, and the Loddon Mallee.
