New upgrades for Henderson Creek

Families in South Morang now have a fresh reason to head outdoors with the revitalisation of Hendersons Creek Wetland Park and Playground officially unveiled on Friday, August 29.

Located next to the Promenade, the redeveloped park boasts a brand-new playground, outdoor fitness equipment, natural play features and a sheltered seating area, creating a welcoming space for people of all ages to play, exercise and relax.

Upgrades also include improved pathways, a shared user path linking to The Lakes Boulevard, and a new pedestrian crossing, aiming to make community access to the park safer and more convenient.

A strong focus on nature has been woven into the park’s design, with open spaces and natural play elements working to encourage children to explore and enjoy the outdoors.

Whittlesea mayor Martin Taylor, joined Mill Park MP Lily D’Ambrosio to celebrate the park’s opening, which has been supported by a state government grant through the Open Space for Everyone – Better Parks and Playgrounds Program and the Community Support Fund.

Cr Taylor said the upgraded park would serve as a lasting asset to the community.

“This new play and recreation space is a wonderful addition to South Morang, giving families, children and the wider community a place to come together and enjoy the outdoors,” he said.

“Playgrounds and parks are about more than fun, they support community connection, health and wellbeing, and create spaces that people of all ages can enjoy.”
